"Breath, Body and Brain: The Science of Mindfulness" is a highly experiential day retreat inviting you to delve into the depths of your mind and body as we explore the profound effects of mindfulness on the brain and well-being. Through a blend of meditation practices, scientific insights, and group discussions, participants will gain practical tools and a deeper understanding of how mindfulness can enhance focus, compassion, and bodily awareness, leading to a more fulfilling life.
Together we will:
- Experience guided meditation sessions aimed at developing focus and attention, including mindfulness of breath and five-finger breathing exercises.
- Explore bodily awareness through the science of interoception and engagement in somatic mindfulness practices such as body scans, gentle movements, and mindful walking to connect with your body on a deeper level.
- Explore the impact of mindfulness on relationships through practices focused on building trust, connection, and compassion within oneself and towards others.
- Gain insights into the neuroscience behind mindfulness and its effects on the brain, providing a deeper understanding and appreciation for the practice.
Through this transformative journey, participants will not only leave with practical mindfulness tools but also with a renewed sense of curiosity, care, and inspiration to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives, fostering well-being and meaningful engagement within themselves and their communities.

On April 24th, on behalf of CBI, I attended the United Way of Great Waterbury’s 37th Celebration and Awards. Picture this: a room buzzing with anticipation, pulsating with the spirit of achievement and unity. And let me tell you, folks, it was a night to remember, dedicated to honoring the incredible power of philanthropy and community partnership.
